Week 1 Milfoil Harvesting Update: Boat Launch

Divers began this year’s milfoil removal on June 19th at the boat launch, returning with a heavy first day’s harvest of 50 bags (over a half ton). They started in deeper water immediately north of the boat launch where a dense bed extended across the Narrows. The total harvest for the week was 142 bags, which equals about 3,550 pounds (1.8 tons). We’re lucky to have experienced divers who have been working on Chateaugay Lake for several years–Lauren and Larry, who were assisted by Dan Cashin, the owner of Invasive Solutions Dive Company, our milfoil removal contractor. Next week the divers move to the Lower Lake inlet.
