Preliminary Surveys Show ProcellaCOR Treatment Highly Effective.
Following the June 25th treatment of milfoil beds in the South Inlet and nearby Deep Bay in the Upper Lake, surveys by lake volunteers found no actively growing milfoil and evidence of die-off. On July 5th, ten days post-treatment, a survey of Deep Bay found only yellowing and dying plants (see photos). A week later, the milfoil was lying flat on the bottom. A survey of the South Inlet basin on July 12th found no milfoil visible throughout the entire 120 acre bed. The only visible milfoil plants were a few yellowing strands along Indian Point, in the dilution zone, with plants lying on the bottom. Both surveys found thriving native plants including pond lilies. These preliminary surveys are very encouraging for the success of the ProcellaCOR treatment. They will be followed by formal surveys in late August—one by the treatment applicator, Ready-Scout, and a comprehensive aquatic plant survey to compare the plants present before and after treatment by the independent survey firm of Adirondack Research.
