2025 Adirondack Park Agency Public Notice

Friends of Chateaugay Lake,

As we shared with you last month, after the highly positive results of last year’s ProcellaCOR EC pilot in the Narrows (where we treated the area stretching from just south of the sand bar to the Narrows Bridge), we commenced our permitting effort for treatment in 2025. The targeted beds are in the Upper Lake and include Bed B (Sunset Road), Bed D (north shore east of sandbar), Bed H (Deep Bay by Indian Point), and Bed W (South Inlet bays).

The required New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC) notification letter was sent to shore owners in the treatment and dilution areas in March   and is posted on our webpage.  Affected shore owners will also soon receive a notification letter from the Adirondack Park Agency (APA), signaling our application is complete.  We will share that when we receive it.

The DEC recently approved our permit request, subject to final review of the work plan for treatment in the South Inlet where the underwater lands are state-owned. The APA is  reviewing our application now and  is providing an opportunity for public comment.

Through our public meetings and communications, we have received overwhelmingly positive feedback and support of our plan to continue this project, which would take place in late June.  We are asking you to support our application for a permit by going to the APA website at this link HERE and filling out the form to let the APA know that you support the effort to fight invasive Eurasian watermilfoil in Chateaugay Lake using ProcellaCOR EC.  Please fill out and submit the form (it will take less than two minutes) by Wednesday, June 11, 2025.

Thank you for your continued support as we fight for our beautiful lake!

Sincerely, The Chateaugay Lake Foundation Board
